At Gorge Lactation & Wellness, we believe all mothers deserve support—not just in birth, but in everything that comes after. We offer personalized, non-judgmental care to help families navigate early parenthood with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
Lactation Is More Than Just Getting Started
Lactation Is More Than Just Getting Started
Lactation is so much more than just getting started with breastfeeding. It’s a journey—one that evolves with your baby and your needs. Whether you're nursing, pumping, combo feeding, or choosing to stop, we’re here to support your goals without judgment. From sore nipples to low milk supply to navigating nipple shields and bottle issues, we’re here to help you make feeding work for you. Because feeding should feel good, sustainable, and centered around your wellbeing—not just your output.
Our Services
Our services are led by Dr. Michelle Gerbi (IBCLC, Perinatal Chiropractor) and Ami Burnham (IBCLC), who bring decades of combined experience in helping families feed and thrive.
Lactation Services
-
Preparing for breastfeeding is just as important as preparing for birth. We’ll talk through what to expect, common myths, positioning tips, and how partners and family can support you. A single session can help you feel ready and avoid many of the common feeding struggles new parents face.
-
Breastfeeding should never be painful. We’ll take a close look at latch, positioning, and any underlying issues so you can feed comfortably and with confidence.
-
If your goal is to move from finger feeding, nipple shields, or pumping to fully breastfeeding, we can help. We’ll make a clear plan together, step by step, so you can reduce stress and feel good about the process.
-
We dig into why your milk supply may be lower than expected and create a personalized plan to support your goals. This might include a feeding assessment, lab work, and supplement options—whether that’s boosting your supply or finding the right formula or donor milk if needed.
-
Tongue tie isn’t always obvious and requires more than a quick look in the mouth. We’ll do a full functional assessment, discuss conservative care options, and if a release is recommended, we’ll guide you through the process and support you before and after the procedure.
-
If your baby refuses bottles, struggles with nipple confusion, or has other feeding challenges, we’ll help you troubleshoot and create an action plan that works. We also support families who are struggling with choosing, transitioning or supplementing with formula.
-
Exclusive pumping is a huge commitment. We’ll make sure your pump setup fits you well, show you techniques to stay comfortable, and help you maintain supply while making it feel more sustainable.
-
Allergies can be stressful and confusing. We’ll help you spot common symptoms, identify possible triggers, and create a plan with your pediatrician to support your baby using the most up-to-date evidence.
-
Your baby’s gut health in the first year sets the stage for lifelong health. We offer targeted testing and feeding guidance to address issues like reflux, eczema, and constipation—plus education on how breast milk and probiotics can support your baby’s immune system.
-
Colic, reflux, and feeding issues often look the same. We’ll help you sort through what’s really going on so you can get to the root of the problem and find solutions that help your baby (and you) feel better.
-
Plugged ducts and mastitis are tough—especially if they keep coming back. We use gentle therapeutic ultrasound in the office and give you a clear plan for home care to help you feel better and avoid future flare-ups.
-
Starting solids is exciting, but it can feel overwhelming. We’ll create a plan just for you, covering when and how to start, how to introduce allergens, and how to keep feeding goals on track.
-
Weaning is a two-way relationship. Whether you’re weaning overnight, fully, or just setting new boundaries, we’ll help you find an approach that feels good for you and your child.
-
Some feeding journeys are especially hard. Whether you've had prior breast surgery, or reduction surgery, or any other medical challenges, we're here to help.
We work closely with your care team to support families navigating difficult births, babies with complex medical needs, mental health challenges, and more—always centering your well-being in every decision.
Wellness Services
-
Birth can be tough on little bodies, and some babies need extra help adjusting. We use soft, calming techniques like craniosacral therapy and myofascial release to ease tension, improve feeding, and support healthy development. Parents are always involved, and we’ll show you simple ways to support your baby at home too.
-
While Dr. Michelle Gerbi is in prenatal and postpartum work, she also has clinical interest in complex health cases.
-
Pregnancy brings incredible change—and sometimes discomfort. Our gentle, patient-centered chiropractic care supports you through every trimester, helping relieve pain, improve mobility, and keep you feeling strong. We also work closely with your birth team to support your overall health, including guidance on nutrition and gut health when needed.
-
Your recovery matters just as much as pregnancy. Whether you had a vaginal or cesarean birth, we provide hands-on support to help your body heal, restore balance, and rebuild confidence in movement. From scar tissue and diastasis recti to pelvic pain and fatigue, we’ll help you feel more like yourself again.
Where Functional Medicine Meets Feeding
Where Functional Medicine Meets Feeding
Gorge Lactation & Wellness sits at the intersection of functional medicine and infant feeding. Whether we’re addressing recurrent mastitis, evaluating a baby’s gut health, or navigating complex allergies and reflux, our approach combines the latest research with deep clinical experience. We believe in digging deeper when something feels off—using tools like microbiome testing and lab work to find answers to things like colic and low milk supply, and make sustainable plans. We also believe that mental health should always lead the way. If something isn’t working for you, it’s time for a new path—and we’re here to help you find it.
